The Skiers of Justice (Monday 03 March 2003)
This morning at 09:00 hours Andy and Jon collected skis, poles and boots and set off for a very different day on the mountain. After four months slating every skier who'd cut them up, they were finally tempted to try the modern parabolic carving skis.
Neither of Andy nor Jon had skied since they started snowboarding, which was over 10 years ago in both cases, so they were prepared for a much slower day than normal. They began with a tentative run down to Emerald Express, during which both were surprised to find their legs were sending back different signals, and flapping around independently of each other.
The flapping gradually reduced after some guidance from Andy's parents down a couple of runs in the Harmony Bowl area. By the time the Riders went up Peak in the afternoon their technique was vastly improved and they were flying along, skiing almost as fast as they normally ride. They skied with Matt for a while, but he seemed far from convinced and left them to it.
Both Riders thoroughly enjoyed the day, though for Andy one day was enough. Jon, on the other hand, is wondering about having another go and maybe even a lesson. Look out for www.skiersofjustice.com.
