The Sea vs Sky Party (Saturday 05 April 2003)

After weeks of planning, the Sea vs Sky Party finally arrived on Saturday night. Invited guests from Vancouver and Whistler (the Sea to Sky corridor) dressed according to their gang - the Vancouver Cripps in blue and the Whistler Bloods in red. The gangs met in Blacks Pub in Whistler and the partying began, accompanied by music from Vancouver and Whistler DJs.

The original aim of the party was simply to get all of the Riders' friends together in one place, but it ended up becoming Andy's farewell party. Although there were some key absences, almost all of the people the Riders have got to know during their season turned up, helping to make it a very special evening.

There had been talk of holding the after-party at the Palace but when the Riders informed their landlady, Dawn, that there might be a few people coming round, she said she'd call the police straight away and issue another eviction notice. In the hope of preventing any further aggravation, the search began for an alternative venue. Eventually (i.e. on Saturday evening) a venue was found - a magnificent house in the Creekside area of the village, which was duly hired for the night.

At 01:00 most of the party moved on to Tommy Africa's, whilst the remaining few clear up Blacks and set off to prepare the house. When Tommy's closed the gangs met up again down in Creekside and the real party got going, complete with decks and hot tub.

Special thanks must go to Ingrid for her efforts to find the after-party venue, Crystal for her help planning everything, and most of all to Andy and Mike for organising the whole thing and putting up the funds for the house. Thanks to everyone else for turning up!
