The Day of Justice (Tuesday 19 March 2002)
At 07:00 the Riders assembled at the Whistler Village Gondola, loaded up and set off for the Roundhouse Lodge. After an 'all you can eat' breakfast the runs were opened and the Riders explored as many variations of Emerald Express as they could find.
When the lightboard showed Peak was open they set off immediately, and were some of the first people up. Whistler Bowl had a couple of feet of fresh snow, providing some amazing runs back down to the Peak chair, before the Riders ventured round the other side of the mountain to the West Bowl.
The snow in the West Bowl was amazing, and the runs down Cockalorum and through the Christmas trees were fantastic. Every variation was tried, with some of the best caught on video.
Below the return path to Big Red the route was cordoned off, but a few people were disappearing through the trees. The Riders decided that this must be the famous half-finished Peak to Creek run, and set off for the ride of their lives.
The snow was almost untouched, feet deep in places. The adrenelin rush from the huge expanse of the unopened run was amazing: so much snow, so much space, and no one in the way. Half an hour later the Riders arrived at the Creekside Gondola, on an enormous high. So they set off to do it again.
In the afternoon the Riders visited Harmony, before one final trip down Peak to Creek and a massive bowl of nachos in Dusty's.
