Not entirely surprisingly we began this week much as the last. Only this time we weren't waking up with headaches – we just had them already. The previous night's party was totally mad and turned into an all night affair. The only good thing about Sunday was that Man U beat the dirty scousers at Anfield.
Monday I awoke feeling nearly as bad as the day before. Bob and Jon both went up the mountain to get another day under the belt. I simply couldn't face it – my body felt like it had been put through the mixer and the last thing I wanted to do was make it worse. Nasya bought me some lunch and then I ferried the boys back from the slopes and then on to the gym and I spent the day working and sleeping.
Tuesday was a new start. I knew that I had to get into a rhythm of getting up the slopes else February would be upon me and I whilst I may be top 10 ranked at Quake, I still wouldn't have improved my snowboarding. We headed up the mountain and although the snow was as bad as the week before it was good to practice riding fakie and a few 180s.
Wednesday was a milestone. Telus (Canada's BT) installed our ADSL line into the house so we are now finally online. Trips to the Internet cafes were getting tedious so it nice to be able to get email and upload stuff to the site whenever we want. The broadband is also super fast so we have been busy getting all sorts of stuff from Kazaa.
I haven't shaved for over a week now and I seem to have grown a beard. Tragically it is a ginger beard but I've decided to leave it for the time being. Whether I live to regret that decision remains to be seem. At least the boil has finally retreated to the size of a large spot.
Managed to make it up to the slopes on Thursday and Friday. Thought that I had got fakie riding nailed until I caught a bad heel side edge and smashed my head on the ice. Luckily the helmet took the majority of the bump but it still gave me a killer headache and my confidence was totally gone. Decided to persevere but after it had happened the second and third times I gave up and went home early in a strop and with a migraine.
Saturday woke the boys up early to go and watch the footy at the Shoestring Lodge (www.shoestringlodge.com). Despite terrible hangovers, we managed to make it just in time for the kick off. Veron and Scholes did the business and the sorry gooners were sent packing. Got home to see that the dirty scousers had lost to Charlton and Leeds had lost again. One of the best days of the holiday so far :). |
